surprise sunday!

remember in the haul i brought home the other day i said i'd scored a red samsonite carry-on bag? well, today i decided i needed to clean it up - was dusty and grimy but i saw it's potential!

not bad, huh?

then, as i began wiping out the insides of the pockets i came across a necklace i'd COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN i purchased. SURPRISE! i bought it as a gamble because it was so tarnished and green i was sure it couldn't be salvaged.... but it was so cute i couldn't not buy it! even though i thought i was wasting my time, i went to the bathroom to pull out the jewelry cleaner to give it a shot... and it worked!

how precious is THIS?!

it's the perfect "choker" length and sits right in the hollow of the neck.

then, seeing as how my GIANT issue of Vogue says that i should be layering necklaces this fall, i thought i'd give it a shot! i just threw on a few Lois was holding for me and voila!

i look at this photo and in one instance think that this looks almost ridiculously cool and then in the next i think it just looks ridiculous (especially since the long silver one is looped around my boob!). it's probably a better idea with a different set of necklaces but this was just for play - i'll try for real sometime soon though.

i usually just wear the one unraveling chain alone:

(as one long strand)

(doubled up)

i got it at TJ Maxx for $12 and i love it because it reminds me of this Chanel one i could never afford!
(ummm, how many different colors can one person's skin appear in a single set of photographs?! i'm like that sunday school song: "jesus loves the little children; all the children of the world. red, yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight. jesus loves the little children of the world" well he MUST love me then!)

That little bow necklace is SO cute! Love the layering demonstration - I think you can totally pull this off. And yes, the TJ Maxx one DOES look kind of like Chanel...wicked find :)

Also, how did you clean up that Samsonite so nicely? I have a few recent vintage bags I would love to restore, but as of right now I haven't the first clue how to go about doing it...
